While I was working on my first book Making Peg Dolls, I couldn't decide on the exact mermaid variation I liked best, so I ended up creating four sets of mermaid dolls (totaling 20 mermaids in all, by the time I was done). Thus, I have mermaids in excess.
If you would like one of my mermaids (or two... or maybe even three) to swim into your mailbox, please leave a comment below; and just for fun, you can mention what sorts of peg dolls you think I should include in my next book. The contents of the new book are already decided, so no promises re: including your ideas, but I'm always curious to know where your interests lie!
I will choose two names via random drawing and announce the winners at the end of next week. Good luck!
Comments are now closed -- thank you to everyone for joining in the fun! Winners have been chosen; congratulations to lucky #9 and #28.
What a delightful give away. Animals of the Savannah would be interesting to create.
ReplyDeleteThese mermaids are delightful! Have a four-year-old who would love to play with them!
ReplyDeleteAre there any space aliens coming in the new book?
I've just begun to paint peg dolls, I can see it may be addicting! The mermaids are adorable! I was just wondering if I had any tiny shells laying around. I would just need to convince my granddaughter to leave the hats on!
ReplyDeleteI love your little peg dolls and your Thanksgiving dolls inspired me to make some turkeys and pilgrims with my daughter. I would love to see dolls representing Christmas around the world.
ReplyDeleteMy seven year old daughter would adore these!
ReplyDeleteThese mermaids are beautiful! Love them. I would love to see more dolls representing characters in fairy tales or classic literature in an upcoming book.
ReplyDeleteMy kids would like Harry Potter peg dolls!

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI like your peg dolls especially the little with green hat.
For a next book, maybe a peg doll with a secret message under or behind or hidded with an accessory : "I miss you" or "I'm with you" , "beleive in you" ... The people would have it with her and when her heart is sad, she read and also she will be happy ... You inderstand my idea ?
Have a good day for you and your family.

Really sweet mermaids - I would like the camel pattern for the nativity scene in the new book. I live in UK so if I'm randomly picked please donate the mermaids to a charity of your choice.
ReplyDeleteYour mermaids are so adorable, and after your books I too now have a rather healthy addiction to making peg dolls! I'm with the others on pairing with book characters, classic fairy tales would be my pick. I recently created a set from "children of the forest" by Elsa beskow and I can't wait to gift them :)
ReplyDeleteHi I agree with Ronnie, simple children books paired with peg doll characters. And more animals please, especially Pettson and Findus. Elsa Beskow and Sybil von Offers, Preussler's Little Water sprites, hang on I need to find my glasses so I can read the spines on the books shelf. Found them, Bottersnikes and Gumbles, Eliot's Old Possum's book of practical cats and of course Richard Scarry's characters. One day I am going to do a whole chess set of gnomes...when the Aussie $ improves and postage gets cheaper. No I am not holding my breath.
ReplyDeleteWe would love to have three mermaid peg dolls to swim into our mail box! Maybe zoo themed peg dolls would be a cute idea?

We would love a couple mermaids. I want to make the mermaids for my five year old this summer but also have to make a mermaid costume so not sure if i will be able to do both. We have made almost everything from your first book. The ones I have made that were not in there were a set of doctors and nurses and some pirates!
ReplyDeleteI love your peg dolls and your blog! It's always a treat when I receive an email from you in my mailbox. I know it will be something creative and be sure to put a smile on my face! Keep up the good work. :)
ReplyDeleteWe love your books and are looking forward to the next one. We would like to see fairy tale princess peg dolls.
ReplyDeleteWhat cute mermaids. We love animals and princesses at our house, so anything along those lines would be great.
ReplyDeleteI have both of your books and look forward to the next! In the new book patterns for the animals in the Nativity in the first book. And YES I would love a mermaid or two.....Wonderful work and creativity! Thanks to you!

ReplyDeleteI guess I'm not the only one waiting for a pattern of the camel. Hopefully in the next book? In the meantime, "keep on swimming" with the mermaids!
ReplyDeleteHi! I'll put our name in for a mermaid. My girls would love to win one.
ReplyDeleteI'm just getting started making peg dolls and I would love to have an original mermaid handcrafted by you. I think circus peg dolls complete with clowns would be cute or eskimos.
