Introducing Purple Petunia (and a Valentines Give-Away!)


Dearest all,

In December I stumbled onto the most wonderful etsy shop and simply had to share it with you.  The shop is called Purple Petunia where Valerie Frandsen Goates sells the most exquisite ceramic bowls and figures, wee fairies and wooden gnomes.  While everything in her shop is delightful, it is her "surprise bowls" which have captured my heart.  Imagine handing your child a tiny bowl containing a small, delectable snack. And beneath the snack, in the bottom of the bowl, is hiding...

 A dainty bunny... 

 
 A funny little hedgehog... 

or a wee little mouse!

When I asked Valerie whether she would mind if I featured her darling bowls on my blog, she generously offered as a give-away this beautiful red & white bowl with a tiny white bird hiding in the bottom.  It could be a perfect Valentines gift for a favorite child -- or keep it for yourself as a lovely place to keep safe a pair of earrings or a treasured ring.  To enter the give-away just visit Valerie's shop here  then come back and leave a comment with your favorite item from her shop (also, please be sure I have a way to contact you if you are the winner.)  I will draw a winner for the give-away via random number generator in one week, Wednesday February 8th.

    Oh My! Valerie's shop truly IS a find!
    There's so much goodness here.
    To choose just one item, is indeed difficult. The badges. The faeries. And all of the gorgeous pottery! I am leaning towards the red and white mushroom I think. Or perhaps the blossom mug with surprise wee turtle?
    And the tiny red bird bowl is a treasure indeed!

    Oh, I love, love, love her shop! I've been drooling over those little cups and bowls for a while now, deciding which I'd like to purchase. I think I have decided my favorite is the green lamb surprise mug. Sweet! Thank you both for the giveaway and the 10% off. I know i"ll be using that!

    Such wonderful pottery! I especially love the vases, my daughter loves to pick tiny weed flowers and I always have to use spice jars :) A little green vase would be so much more perfect.

    I *love* the surprise cups/bowls! I SO remember finding a little surprise in the bottom of the cup when I visited my aunt when I was young. I thought it was THE COOLEST surprise.....I still think so! (I think the snail is especially cute!)

    Such beautiful work. Reminds me of a bowl from my childhood, that had a pattern at the bottom. I loved eating up my porridge to get to the pattern. My favourite (no easy task picking just ONE, mind you) is the red and white mushroom hand thrown surprise bowl. So very sweet.
