Indoor Kite Flying

A simple, unglamorous art project... but one which inspires running, playing and giggling.

These are perfect for a rainy day when everyone is indoors, feeling cooped-up...

Making these kites couldn't be easier.  I cut out some simple shapes (my little one is fond of traditional kite-shapes while my elder prefers butterflies), taped on some bits of yarn and then left the kites lying on the kitchen table.  A few minutes later, little Mr. noticed them and pulled out some drawing materials.  Once the kites were decorated, it was time to fly.  They flutter satisfyingly in the breeze left in the wake of a cheerful sprint!

I've said it before and I'll say it again... It's not easy to catch photos of a toddler in motion!  (And a final note: these little kites are also great for outdoor running, playing and giggling...)

  1. What a fun idea, and a good way to get out some energy on a rainy indoor day! :)

  2. How fun! We've got a string of rainy, blustery days going on here~ that would be fun to do with the kids!
